The
Nassau County Sports Commission's "Let's Do It!" program, made possible
through the efforts of the Sanjay Kumar Foundation and Computer Associates International,
was a program designed to make sports accessible to children of all races and
socio-economic backgrounds that ran from 1999-2005. The program reached out to
12 community-based youth organizations each with enrolled participant between
the ages of 7 and 16. The program succeeded in introducing children to various
sports such as swimming, tennis, karate, roller hockey, lacrosse, luge, golf and
soccer. Each sport hosted approximately 100-150 youngsters and for many, these
were first time experiences. |
