at the Nassau County Sports Commission (NCSC) are dedicated to bringing the best
sports related activities and businesses to Nassau County, "America's First
Playground." It is our goal to make Nassau County "America's Best Playground."
Over
the years, the NCSC has brought events and businesses to the County. Each year,
we hold an Annual Awards Dinner celebrating academic and collegiate athletes and
coaches, induct prominent sports figures into the Hall of Fame, bestow the prestigious
Dick Schaap Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports Journalism and the John Mackey
Award, the best collegiate Tight End in the Nation. Most
importantly, it has created the "Lets Do It!" program. This innovative
program comprised of several components, notably "Lets Get Started,"
that provides sports programs to at-risk children and "Passport To Opportunity"
that allows youth the chance to advance their sports training, brings a wide array
of sports programs and opportunities to the County's children. We
also partner with the Women's Sport Foundation and the GoGirlGo program to bring
sports to girls. We hold conferences on the danger of drug abuse and to prevent
steroid use. It
is our desire to expand the number of participants, communities and programs under
the Lets Do It! umbrella. To achieve this goal, we ask for your Tax Deductible
donations to this worthy program. As an independent non-profit 501 (C)(3) organization,
we receive no funding from Nassau County Government. Instead, we depend on corporate
sponsorships, grants, and individual donations to operate all these programs.
