GREAT JOB!!!!
Read what Seth has to say about the "Let's Do It!" Program
The
"Let's Do It" Program has allowed me to experience several different
sports such as hockey, fencing, swimming, lacrosse, and my current ongoing activity,
karate. Through the Nassau County Sports Commission's "Let's Do It"
Program, I have experienced what it is to be a team player and how to act as
more of a leader and not a follower. For example, in playing games such as hockey
and lacrosse, it felt good to lead my team throughout the games and keep their
spirits high when times got tough. It was a lot of fun. Karate has
enabled me to travel across the country to states such as Nevada, Virginia,
West Virginia, Texas, California, North Carolina, and South Carolina. I
had the challenge of competing against national class athletes. I had
a good time on trips, making friends and experiencing new things. I have
made several achievements in karate such as making it onto the United States
Junior National team and winning several championships. I hope to compete
internationally in continents such as Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America.
I feel that this would help to broaden my horizons and maybe alter my
view on other countries and see what they are really like. Another sport
that I have enjoyed is fencing. Many people have never tried fencing in
their lives and it means a great deal to me that I was one of the people to
experience it. It is enjoyable and I learned new concepts about the sport.
Another favorite sport that I have participated in is hockey. In
hockey, I learned how to skate better, how to play and understand the game and
to meet other people in the "Let's Do It" program that were my age.
In conclusion, I would like to say that the Nassau County
Sports Commission has been a great part of my life and has led me to areas I
never would have had I not been in the program.
