2011 John Mackey Award to be Presented LIVE on Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on Dec. 8th

Bethpage, N.Y. (December 7, 2010) - The Nassau County Sports Commission, sponsored by Briarcliffe College, is excited to announce that the 2011 John Mackey Award will be presented on live national television tomorrow evening. The Mackey Award, which has seen 31 of 33 finalists since the awards inception play in the NFL, will be presented live on ESPNU at 8pm EST on December 8, 2011 as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show.
 
The John Mackey Award presented since 2000, lists ten NFL players as alumni: Dallas Clark ('01) of the 2006 Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts, two-time Super Bowl Champion Daniel Graham ('02) of the Tennessee Titans, Kellen Winslow II ('03) of the Tampa Bay Bucaneers, two-time Super Bowl Champion Heath Miller ('04) of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Marcedes Lewis ('05) of the Jacksonville Jaguars, 2008 Super Bowl champion Matt Spaeth ('06) of the of the Chicago Bears, Fred Davis ('07) of the Washington Redskins, Chase Coffman ('08) of the Cincinnati Bengals, Aaron Hernandez ('09) of the New England Patriots and the 2010 John Mackey Award recipient DJ Williams of the Green Bay Packers.

The John Mackey Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA). The NCFAA was founded in 1997 as a coalition of the major collegiate football awards to protect, preserve and enhance the integrity, influence and prestige of the game's predominant awards. The NCFAA encourages professionalism and the highest standards for the administration of its member awards and the selection of their candidates and recipients. The Home Depot College Football Awards Roundtable Special, a discussion about the Heisman finalists and the year in college football, will begin at 5 p.m. on ESPNU on Thursday, Dec. 8. The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show - hosted by Erin Andrews, Tom Rinaldi and Dari Nowkhah - will air at 8 p.m. on ESPNU and again after the show at 11 p.m. The Home Depot College Football Awards Show will begin at 9 p.m. on ESPN. The 21th annual awards show - hosted by ESPN's Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Erin Andrews - will originate from the Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney's BoardWalk at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
