Andrew Quarless Named 2011 Nassau County Athlete of the Year

Andrew Quarless, a member of the Super Bowl XLV Champion Green Bay Packers and All Pro Sports & Entertainment, Inc. client, was named the 2011 Nassau County Athlete of the Year, the Nassau County Sports Commission announced today. The award is given to the athlete from Nassau County who has experienced success on the professional level.

Quarless will be recognized during a ceremony on May 3rd at the Woodlands in Woodbury, Long Island.

Andrew began his high school playing days at Holy Trinity High School, but later transferred to Uniondale High School. After a successful high school playing career, Andrew went on to Penn State University, where he set the Penn State school record for most receptions by a tight end in a season (41) and career (87).

Selected in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, Quarless worked hard in training camp and played in 13 games, started in three games and accumulated over 200 receiving yards. Quarless had a big role in the Packers post season success on the field. Quarless had five catches for 46 yards in the playoffs.

The Nassau County Sports Commission first awarded the Nassau County Athlete of the Year in 1995 with Donald McPherson of the Houston Oilers as the inaugural recipient. Past recipients include: Rob Moore (New York Jets), Jay Fiedler (Philadelphia Eagles), Chad Pennington (New York Jets), Daniel Graham (New England Patriots), and D’Brickashaw Fergusan (New York Jets).
