In an effort to combat childhood obesity and general inactivity, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® has created a new and innovative program entitled CircusFitSM. This program provides educators, youth group leaders and parents with an easy-to-follow, flexible structure. A variety of implementation options can be customized to a wide range of group sizes, funding or scheduling constraints – whether your group meets once a day, or once a week. Each CircusFit lesson takes about 20 minutes and lesson tools can be made with readily available materials, such as plastic drink bottles or jump ropes. Once youth discover the FUNdamentals of fitness, they are likely to get active and develop a genuine fitness habit!
Through a partnership, the Nassau County Sports Commission will be working with Ringling Bros. in an effort to implement this new and innovative program within our region. As a local non-profit sports commission, it is in our best interest to keep our community active and advocate fitness and a healthy lifestyle, specifically towards our local youth.
We encourage you to implement this program inside of the classroom as it will enhance your lesson plan and help you achieve your goal of keeping your kids healthy in a fun and constructive way. All materials needed to support and implement this program inside the classroom can be found by visiting WWW.CIRCUSFIT.COM and are completely FREE!
In addition, we are offering a special contest where one lucky school within our region will be selected at random to host an exclusive CircusFit themed program inside your own very school at no cost! If interested, please fill out the enclosed voucher and return by Friday, March 6, 2009. You may also contact us directly to enter the contest by calling Bryan Revello at 516-365-9625 or via email at bryan@nasssausports.org. The winner will be notified no later than March 10, 2009.
