Grant Park in Hewlett will hold registration for children’s ice skating lessons on November 20 from 6 to 9 p.m., announced Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi.

Eight half-hour or six 40-minute lessons designed to accommodate various skill levels will be offered beginning December 6. The classes take place on Saturdays and Sundays between 10 a.m. and noon or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. For more information about classes and fees, call 516-571-7821.

The Grant Park outdoor ice skating rink will open for the season on Friday, December 5, weather permitting, offering three two-hour morning and afternoon sessions seven days a week beginning at 10:30 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. In addition, there is a two-hour evening session Fridays beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Skating fees at Grant range from $4 to $14, depending upon the age of the patron and whether or not one is a Leisure Pass holder and county resident. Group and private skating lessons are available, as well as ice charters for groups, hockey games and private rentals. Patrons may also rent skates.

Grant is a beautiful 35-acre park nestled in a residential area by Broadway and Sheridan Avenue.
