CHISTOPHER MORLEY PARK HOLDS REGISTRATION
FOR ICE SKATING LESSONS ON NOVEMBER 13
Christopher Morley Park in Roslyn-North Hills will hold registration for ice skating lessons on November 13 from 6 to 8 p.m., announced Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi. The hilly, tree-lined 98-acre park has one of the busiest and prettiest outdoor ice skating rinks in Nassau County.
Eight half-hour lessons will be offered beginning the week of December 8 and running for eight weeks (one lesson per week), with the following schedule:
• Wednesday or Thursday at half-hour intervals from 4 to 6 p.m.
• Saturday at half-hour intervals from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The fee for skating lessons is $120.
The Christopher Morley rink will open for the season on Friday, December 5, offering three two-hour morning and afternoon sessions seven days a week beginning at 10:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. In addition, there are two-hour evening sessions Thursdays at 6:45 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Christopher Morley is located on Searingtown Road (Exit 36 north of the L.I.E). In addition to the rink, the park includes a large playground; basketball, handball and tennis courts; baseball fields; a nine-hole golf course; heavily wooded nature trails; and a fitness trail. For information, call 516-571-8113.
The County offers a second outdoor ice skating rink in Grant Park in Hewlett (516-571-7821) and an indoor ice skating rink at Cantiague Park in Hicksville (516-571-7056). At both parks, group and private skating lessons are available, as well as ice charters for groups, hockey games and private rentals. Patrons may also rent skates.
Skating fees at the outdoor rinks range from $4 to $14, depending upon the age of the patron and whether or not one is a Leisure Pass holder and county resident.
