SANTA RETURNS TO CHRISTOPHER MORLEY PARK ON DECEMBER 13
TO SKATE WITH CHILDREN
Despite an incredibly hectic schedule, Santa finds time each December to visit one of his favorite locations in Nassau County – the Christopher Morley Park ice skating rink. But what makes his visit to the park unique is that Santa actually puts on the skates and spends time on the ice with the children. This year, the “Skating with Santa” event will take place on Saturday, December 13, from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m., announced Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi.
During the visit, Santa will skate with children and pose for pictures while also taking mental notes regarding the holiday wish lists of the children attending. The rink will also have hot chocolate, cookies and candy canes. Separately, Toys for Tots will be on hand collecting toys from parents who want to make a donation.
Framed by trees, landscaped hills and a small boat basin, the Christopher Morley ice skating rink provides one of the prettiest settings in Nassau County. The rink is open seven days a week, with daily two-hour day sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 4 p.m., and one two-hour session evenings on Friday and Saturday beginning at 8:30 p.m. and Thursday at 6:45 p.m.
Group and private skating lessons are available, as well as ice charters for groups, hockey games and private rentals. Patrons may also rent skates. Skating fees range from $4 to $14, depending upon the age of the patron and whether or not one is a Leisure Pass holder and county resident. For information about the ice skating rink, call 516-571-8123.
Christopher Morley is a hilly, tree-lined 98-acre park located on Searingtown Road (Exit 36 north of the L.I.E). In addition to the rink, the park includes a large playground; basketball, handball and tennis courts; baseball fields; a nine-hole golf course (closed in the winter); a fitness trail; heavily wooded nature trails; and a basin for model-boat enthusiasts. For information about the park, call 516-571-8113.
